Because many people like it. And because it makes sense for it to be in live notifications when it's live, If you don't like it, you can turn off the media player in the Now bar, so you won't see it in the status bar. If you have separate notifications and quick panels, the media player will be available in the quick panel. There, there's a way to customize everything. Just because you don't like it, is no reason for Samsung to remove the music player live notification. I like it! And many do too!

Why does Samsung think inserting the media player where notifications live is a good thing? Less space for notification icons and I know what media is playing because I can hear it! Completely stupid and unnecessary 'update'. Please remove this or give us the option to remove it.

I think they do it because it's a very nice and useful feature to many users, including myself. Aside from the fact it fits in well with other live notifications functions and also serves as a quick access option to currently playing media, it's also optional and can be disabled as Sonora has rightfully stated.

If you disable the now bar then you also lose ability to control media from a lock screen. This is unacceptable and a regression in user experience.

It's simple, you only have to turn off media player in live notifications when you use phone and turn it on when you lock phone. Is that really hard to do?

But I am curious, how you can see media player in status bar on lock screen? 😂

I'm not sure you get what I mean when I say status bar. I'm talking about the bar at the topic of the screen that shows battery, time, and notification icons. That's what it's called in my settings.

I dislike the media player title that appears in the status when "live notifications" are turned on for media player. When I am using my phone, I know what I'm listening to and I don't need that displayed in the status bar. It takes up space that I like to have reserved for any actual notifications I get. It's useful for me to have song information on my lock screen because when I listen to music with my phone screen off, I don't always know what I'm listening to, and it lets me change what's playing without typing in my passcode. The media player does not show in the status bar on the lock screen. It shows only while the phone is unlocked and the media is in the background.

Ideally, these settings should be separate. I should be able to have the media controls on the lock screen without the annoying media notification constantly displayed while I use the phone.

Also, it is simply foolish to ask a user to adjust a setting buried in the settings menus every single time they want to pick up or put down their phone while listening to media.

Just to be clear. I am okay with the behavior in these images. I actually like them and would use them, if they didn't introduce something I find infinitely more obnoxious.

I do not like and I turn off the live notifications for media player explicitly to disable the behavior in the screenshot below. The red icon in the top left.

So, you know what you listen when using phone, but you don't know if your phone is locked. Interesting...because your argument for changing or skipping tracks is valid also when you using phone and it's better in live notification, you know why?

Because you can touch media player in status bar and only media player will be shown, see my screenshot

And for me is big NO NO if I must pull down all quick panel if I'm in another app, so this IS perfect solution-media player in live notification. You may don't like it, but many people like it.

Edit- oh, I can see why you don't see advantage for media player in live notifications , you have together live notifications and quick panel. You missed huge advantage for separated panels, but that IS your choice

I think it's fine that others enjoy this. I simply would just like for there to be an option to disable the notification that appears while the phone is unlocked without removing the media control function from the lock screen. Putting something obtrusive in the notification section of the status bar and then having the only option to disable it also take away features on the lock screen is poor design, in my opinion. I don't think it should be removed since clearly people find it useful. But I think having the toggle for this feature also disable media player functionality on the lock screen is not intuitive at all.
