UI 7 update rant

Honestly, I just downloaded this app so I could let someone at Samsung know how much I absolutely hate the new OneUI 7.0 update. It is the worst update that has happened, making a plethora of changes to a system that didn't need changing. I spent an hour and a half undoing pretty much everything I could from the update that forced all these changes to auto apply when downloading rather than giving me the option to apply them, along with changing a bunch of my settings for no apparent reason. The new icons and widgets are hideous, including those using the colour pallete feature. And every second I use my phone, I find new pointless changes. A ton of things have just been moved around the screen, which is making it annoying to navigate. It honestly sucks and I hope Samsung can take on the disappointing feedback that I have seen plenty of other people agreeing with and never pull something like this again.

😂 its up upgrade i did anout 2 months ago and probably the worst thing ever. Time to switch over to different software

Oh I did, but the reply told me to add my feedback to the community as this is apparently monitored for improvements, this is pretty much a copy and paste of what I sent to them 😅

And feedback should be sent via feedback and not here, this is primary and community site.

After sending feedback, I was sent this message "We would advise you to add your comments to our Community case, as this is monitored for future review:" along with a link to post here. And it's the visuals and needless moving things around when they didn't need to that has annoyed me most, along with automatically changing all my settings rather than giving the option for me to change them forcing me to spend time reverting what I didn't like. I have noticed a few changes I find useful, but overall, I have a negative opinion of the update. Im glad that you aren't sharing the same negative opinion that I've had and loving the update!

Tbh today I turned on my old Note 20 Ultra on Android 13 UI5 and I don't feel UI7 is that different at a first glance. Not saying they are not different, but I don't feel confused when using the phone. Maybe it's just me idk lol

Now that I've fiddled with my settings and put it back to how I like it, I don't hate it as much. It was just so jarring initially, and I spent an hour reverting the automatic changes and moving my widgets and apps back to where they were.

Yes if that works for you. Lots of new enhanced features too that weren't there on previous UI.

Yeah, I have since noticed some changes that I think are quite good. Im just the sort of person who doesn't like change, so my settings and visuals being messed with peeved me 😂

Tbh there have been visual changes with every new Android, I also did not always took it happily, but I got used with them. Sometimes I like it when the update makes my phone look new without me having to spend a single penny.

That's a fair opinion, and everyone's taste is different. I've ended up putting custom icons on my apps to revert them to the 6.1 look and customised the colours as I did have a colour palette on, but I dislike the change on that. I've never really noticed the visual updates before, I think this one must have been more of a jump, especially as it automatically made my widget backgrounds pure black instead of transparent as well.

I honestly have a hard time recognising any real changes beyond cosmetics from any of the previous OneUI. I guess I'm not that sensitive as some are to change. 🤔

Whenever I use my older OneUI devices, for example my Tab S7+ on OneUI 5.1.1, it just reminds me how bare some of its features are compared to OneUI 7 or 8. I haven't found anything older OneUI does any better or that much different for my normal use, but that's my take on it.

You can undo the changes they made to the notifications swipe down by clicking the little pen icon near the settings. And there's options to change your widget backgrounds back to transparent if you hold them and go into their settings. I also downloaded custom icons for my apps to change them back to the 6.1 update look, which would be better to look up than me explaining. Some things I couldn't change, but it's made me hate the update less.

Well, I hate it. The now bar is terrible, my bbc sounds widget keeps minimising so I have touch it before I can rewind, it also disappears after a while so when the lock screen is on I have to unlock the phone to get it back, and this is a change that cannot be undone. The icon colours and size are horrible, the keyboard font is horrible, and so many other things that have been mentioned all over the web. I don't want to & shouldn't have to spend hours researching how to get things back to how I had them. I used to have iphones but got fed up with their extortionate price and restrictions, and so my last 3 phones have been samsung. This is definitely the worst update I've experienced, and I won't be getting another.

Have to agree, it's possibly the worst update I've ever experienced, thie idea is to improve your phones performance isn't it, formme it's the exact opposite, especially the battery, this update is absolutely obliterating my battery, nothing is simpler to use, everything is more difficult, the layout is absolutely awful, reminds me of how samsungs looked 8/9 years ago, they need to put this back

I totally agree. I updated my A53 to see what it was like and yes its horrible so my current S23 PLUS wont be getting updated at all. You should be given the option to uninstall any update.
