I kinda have a note. None of us have the may update yet. So yes it's nice to know a serious issue is being fixed in the next update. It also means all our devices have a vulnerability that we cannot stop and just have to wait to be fixed. Sorta especially since updates normally are at the end of the month, and it's still the start...

I myself know it's common and not a worry. But I fear someone reading this might panic thinking their device has a security vulnerability and is still on the April update.

News that Google has fixed the Free type flaw with their May Security Update , the issue was zero-click FreeType 2 code execution vulnerability.FreeType is a popular open-source font rendering library that displays and programmatically adds text to images. it impacts all versions up to 2.13 which was released in February 2023. A Facebook disclosure in March gave some information about the vulnerable code.

see the detail here https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/google-fixes-actively-exploited-freetype-flaw-on-android/

It doesn't bother me. Even though the May update hasn't been released yet. I'm always wary of phishing texts messages, avoid connecting to public wifi, and regularly checking for system software updates and app updates on the Google Play Store.

Generally Vulnerabilities are harder to exploit with the latest android versions. Google Play protect provides warnings though some can still slip through the net, https://support.google.com/googleplay/answer/2812853?hl=en-GB

Yes they can. Samsung phones also come with additional protection app protection powered by mcafee. Auto blocker is another great feature to enable as well maximum restrictions.

Yes there are a number of protections available on Samsung Devices and multilayer security with Knox. Still precautions are required .
