Can't restore photos from recycle bin and the photos are also grey with exclamation mark ?

I was trying to clear up storage on my phone and didn't realise I had almost deleted all my photos (deleted through 'my files') and now in the recycle bin they are showing up as grey boxes with exclamation marks and everytime I try to recover they just don't move? I've tried looking at other posts for solutions but nothing seems to be working :'(

Also, prior to this I had not backed up the photos in a long time because honestly I forgot about it and didn't think this would happen TT" Are the photos corrupted? Is there anything I could do to solve or am I just done for ?

Any helps is appreciated, thank you x

(I have a samsung galaxy s8+ by the way)

Hi and welcome.
Looks like the files are corrupted. Try to clear the cache of the gallery app. Go to Settings, scroll down> apps, find Gallery and press Storage and at the bottom of the screen you will have the Clear Cache and press it to clear the cache. Cannot guarantee that this will help to retrieve the files, but it's worth trying. Also, even if you did not back up, it's worth to have a look in the Google Gallery, they might be there. Which phone if you don't mind?

Are you sure they weren't backed up to Google photos or onedrive?

Are you using some sort of launcher or theme?
Seems weird that they all are not showing and just wonder if its that that's causing them not to show up.
Just a guess.
What phone are you using as you've posted in the gallery section

Hi, thank you for the reply!

I have a Galaxy s8+ and I tried clearing the cache but it won't let me for some reason so photos still not loading or restoring. Also, I've had a look at my google photos and they're not there either just the ones on my gallery not recycle bin.

I was using a theme and have been for like a year and there were no problems but I did just remove the theme and the photos are still not loading or restoring but thank you for the suggestion :')

If you are using a Galaxy S8+ that phone is 8 years old so its possible that the storage has become corrupted unfortunately.
