I don't know if you've resolved this, but I was able to find the solution. If you would like to increase the camera inactivity timeout length, you can download an app called 'Good Lock' from the Samsung Galaxy Store. Inside the Good Lock app, download the 'Camera Assistant' plugin and open it. At the bottom of the page, you should see an option called 'Camera Timeout'. You will have the option to change the timeout length to 1, 2, 5, or 10 minutes.

Hey there. It's not much of a problem, but does anyone know how to stop the camera app from closing after 5 or so minutes of inactivity? It's quite annoying and I'd appreciate any help.

Thanks!

That's obvious if you leave camera open without any activity after certain amount of times camera will close it self to save battery. That's not an issue

Mine closes after about 5 seconds. I don't think that is normal. I have SM-J415 and Android 9. I have tried clearing caches, rebooting etc but no, the camera app still closes . I can take a picture if I am really quick, but I am not really quick :^)

@Members_NeNZM2I: Yes, the Camera app should not close automatically while you are using it, and certainly not as quickly as you have described.

Based on the nature of your query, and the steps you have already attempted, I recommend restarting your phone in Safe mode, as this will disable all third party apps and help to determine if the problem is stemming from an external source.

To enter Safe mode, press and hold the Power button until the 'Power off' prompt appears on the screen then release > Touch and hold Power off until the 'Safe mode' prompt appears then release > To confirm, tap Safe mode.

With Safe mode active, open the Camera app and monitor the performance. If you find that the app does not close, then please restart your J4+ as you would normally and uninstall any apps that you have added to the device since you first encountered the issue. It won't be possible to determine exactly which app is at fault, therefore I recommend approaching this via a process of elimination.

Thanks for your quick reply and suggestions.

In safe mode:

Allowing all permissions for the camera app it shows the 'scene' for about 5 seconds and then closes. It doesn't actually allow me to take a picture, at least nothing appears in the gallery.

If I deny permission to use the microphone, the app closes without showing me a 'scene'.

I should mention I have also (previously) booted into recovery mode and cleared the cache, without any effect on the camera app.

Apparently this app is for Android 15+ only. I have a Note10 from 2023 and cant either find it on the Galaxy Store nor listed in the Good Lock app, nor I can install the APK.

Just because you don't think it's a problem doesn't mean that it isn't.
This happens after like 1 minute already... if you have long shooting sessions and have to look away it's EXTREMELY annoying when it keeps closing and resets all the manual tweaks you made to the camera and have to do it all over again only to lose it 1 minute later.

If you're into 3d printer which is becoming more and more popular you need to keep your camera app open and taking pictures for hours. 10 minutes will not suffice. Are there any other options to keep the camera timer on indefinitely? I have the camera plugged into the wall so I'm not worried about battery life. I have the camera connected through bluetooth to the Bambu lab timelapse kit. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
