Why does Samsung Messages keep asking/prompting me to upgrade to Google Messages??? Is the Samsung text messaging app being scrapped or something???

Samsung appear to have commenced a managed migration by users to Google Messages ahead of a future closure of the Samsung Messages app

Samsung messages will be replaced by Google messages eventually. I'm still using Samsung messages and keep getting the message to upgrade. At the moment it's a no.

I'm not sure it's just been slowly phased out at the moment. Google is now the default app for phones (was for me) I was able to disable it though and use Samsung messages

Samsung messages was really poor. Moved to Google messenger months ago and far better experience.

I've just moved now. (Figured why fight the inevitable.) It's too ***** bright!!! But it has Scheduled Send so I'm good. And it'll send MMS messages just fine right??? Like long ass text messages???

Always used Google messages instead of Samsung, I think Samsung messages was a big failure for Samsung and glad they are getting rid of it. I use Google messages even more than I use WhatsApp, it's as secure if not better. No more MMS charges, works across every device, including iPhone now, since 🍏 had its 18.0 update.
Hopefully within the next year I should stop using other messaging apps.

Google messages are like WhatsApp, and no charges, can send loads of pics, videos and messages. Can also use it to send pic messages to iPhone users and see when they are typing back, technology hey 🤫😊

This!!!! People really don't realize how much Google Messages is 100% better, more stable, more reliable and secure than WhatsApp . I don't use WhatsApp either, I don't like it at all

If you enable RCS in Google Messages, you will no longer need to send MMS. If you do not enable RCS, Google, i.e. your mobile carrier, will still charge for MMS.

They were having issues with rcs. It seems that rcs may be coming back in version 16. I can still only get 15.xx I don't remember what I liked about samsung, but have grown to love Google. I confronted a friend about it because they were the only non-rcs person in my groups. They like the tabs 'folders'. Looks nice. If I can get version 16 (a part of one ui vs 7?) I will definitely try it again.

I guess the s25 (international? Only?) has version 16 with rcs.

Bonjour, j'arrive avec du retard, nous sommes en octobre 2025, et il m est impossible de trouver et donc d'installer l'application samsung message. D'ailleurs elle a été supprimé de mon tel sans permission ou explication. J'ai perdu toutes mes anciennes conversations, je suis grrrrrr ! Obligée de utiliser google message, cependant il est impossible d'y installer des thématiques, la seule option est le changement de couleur des conversations. C'est nul, vraiment. Impossible de changer quoi qie ce soit et de la rendre plus attrayante. Bref. Ca veut dire qu on ne pourra plus jamais avoir de theme message sur un tel samsung ? Y'a t'il une autre application de message qui fonctionne bien et qui propose des thématiques ? Je vs remercie de répondre

Samsung Messages n'existe plus et a été retiré des boutiques d'applications. Je ne comprends pas pourquoi vous avez perdu l'application Samsung Messages, car je l'utilise toujours et je l'ai installée sur mon téléphone, mais si j'en achète un nouveau, je devrais utiliser Google Messages. On peut changer la couleur du chat dans Google Messages, mais à ma connaissance, il n'y a pas de thèmes.
