Email app unread email issue

My email app has suddenly starting giving me double notifications for incoming emails - one for new email and one for the email being unread. After I read the email the email remains in the unread folder for several minutes before disappearing.

@Jo145: Please try heading to Settings > Notifications > Advanced settings > Manage notification categories for each app, and toggle this option on.

Now, head to Settings > Apps > Email > Notifications > Notification categories, and check to see if 'Unread emails' can be toggled off from here.

I already had this toggled on. When I go to the Notification Categories there isn't one for Unread Emails. I'm using Galaxy S23+.

Thanks. Can you check some settings, please?

While in the Samsung Email app...settings(cog wheel)>app icon badge count. Set this to New Emails (1st screenshot)
Still in the Samsung Email app settings>notifications>notification catagories >other notifications. Set it up as per the 2nd screenshot.
I'm not guaranting this will work, but it's how mine is set up, and I don't get any notifications for unread emails even though there are unread mails in that folder.

Thanks, I can't open your jpg files but I have the Notification Categories Other Emails turned off...so frustrating. May try deleting my account and adding it back!
