I made an audio recording using Voice Recorder and copied it to my laptop for editing with another program. Once I'd finished, I copied the file back to my phone but it no longer shows up in the "List" of available recordings. Obviously, the act of editing has done something, but I don't know what.

Can anyone please help?

Thanks.

Hi, thanks for replying. The file does show up in the audio file category. I had to first move it to the root because it was already present in the directory. But once I moved it back, the file still doesn't show in the list. By the way, the full path on my phone is Internal Storage\Recordings\Voice Recorder.

I can play it using the Samsung Music app, but I'd prefer using the Voice Recorder because it has a better 'scanning' facility.

Yes, I can select that option, but it opens in a mini-player, see below:

Although interestingly, if I choose another file, I get an Open in Voice Recorder option, see below:

I'm having the same problem as I am using Voice Recorder to transcribe the recording and summarize long meetings. The audio file was created using a microsoft recorder in m4a format. I have the exact same symptoms as jGabler. Playing the file in the mini player doesn't give me access to the transcription service.

Does Voice Recorder use meta data in the file to determine if the audio recording was done using a 3rd party software and if so then reduced functionality?

Please someone help.

The details of a m4a file must not change after you edit it.Like bit rate and sampling rate. You can change them with some apps.

Same here I wanted to transcribe and MP3 but it won't let me import it whatsoever into the app. Tried copying to the directory but it only ever lets me open in the mini-player which is useless.
