Hey there

You'll need to reach out to Samsung Shop to discuss but if your device is wrong region and you are within your 14 days cooling of, send it back to avoid ongoing issues.

If I understand this correctly:

1. You bought your daughter a mobile device, tried to log in using her Samsung account and it wouldn't recognise the device or the account due to the region????

2. You then said you had the same issue with a tablet.

2.1 Now you are saying that he tablet is fine when you log in, presumably using your own Samsung account then the tablet is working fine?

Have to tried logging into the mobile device using your Samsung account? If that works fine then the issue is with your daughter's Samsung Account.

Whichever of the above is correct you will still need to speak to Samsung to either resolve the Samsung account OR resolve the device.

Yeah, that was the conclusion I'd drawn too. Maybe just a matter of time, otherwise it's strange that it lets you set up a child account from a UK parent account, but then you can't do anything with it.

Okay, I have now managed to create (and log into) a UK child account. The difference being that the phone I have used is running UI 6.1. Suspect it may not work on 6.0 and lower.

Yeah I posted on the other thread. For me I have 6 devices (3 mobiles, 3 tablets). Only two of them have One UI 6.1. Only those 6.1 devices allow me to sign into child accounts.

Clearly there's an issue here. Not sure why Samsung would offer child account functionality if they don't make 100% crystal clear it doesn't work on certain devices or devices with certain versions of firmware.

I've just spent over 2 weeks trying to sort out this exact same issue. I bought a brand new A15 for my 10 year old daughter, while setting it up I logged into her Google account with no issues, but when trying to log in with her Samsung account it wouldn't allow it as it says the accounts region / country is different to the phone. Not being able to log in, we couldn't access the phone, so I ended up logging in with my own account. I then updated everything, tried logging back in with my daughters account, still wouldn't work. I originally called the accounts team who said they'd look into it. They said it would take 24 hours for a response, I finally heard back a week later. They sent me an email with instructions on how to create a log file and asked me to reply to the email with the log file attached. I followed the instructions, but the log was saved in a folder on the phone that I can't access. I tried to email them back to tell them this, and found out that you can't reply to their emails, so how was I supposed to send the log even if I could access it? I called in again, the accounts department didn't have a clue & gave me another number to call for tech support. Tech support used remote access to log into the phone & couldn't find any issues, but the guy said he had come across this problem before and in that case it was due to the sim, so I should call Three and check that the sim isn't child restricted. I checked, no issues with the sim, so called back to let Samsung know. On that call, they suggested I try creating another Samsung account for my daughter and try that. This is where I found out what the problem was.

My daughter is 10, and while I could create a Samsung account for her on the web, I couldn't do it on the phone as children under 14 can't have a Samsung account in the UK. It doesn't tell you this if you try to log in with an account you've created on the web though, it gives the region / country error instead. I've just wasted over 2 weeks of my time & a few hours on the phone to their tech support & not one of their representatives clocked this as the issue. Apparently, there is also a way to skip logging in with a Samsung account when setting up a new phone. If you click on "Don't have an account / forgotten password" on the log in screen you can apparently skip the login until later which will then allow you to use the phone.

Samsung, why bother with a "child account" and have age restrictions on that "child account?"

Why give an error message that is nothing to do with the actual problem?

Why ask me to reply to an email address that can't be replied to?

Many people have been having this issue for months yet your support team have no idea about it.

Samsung support, sorry, but you suck.
