Tip for next update

I tired to share this on the feedback section of teams but they told me to share it here instead

There should be an option to tap, rather than swipe, to answer a phone call whilst the screen is locked.

I work in a phoneshop and have had multiple people come in struggling to use their phone because they have to swipe to answer a phone call (when they arent already on their phone; their screen is locked). They are usually elderly, but I myself find this annoying too. It would be a lot better if there was an option to change this to a simple tap. Ive had 2 customers this week who chose iphones over samsungs because of this. I believe it should be a simple fix, so could that be implemented in the coming updates please?

I literally just did that, and also said within this post thats what i had already done. They replied, telling me to post it here. See screenshot.

Take a look at the screenshot again. Instead of posting on the community page, enter your feedback suggestion via the support tab located on the bottom of the page. You need to do this via the members app.

So then why did they give me the link to post here? That's so stupid. Also, why is this so difficult? It should just be able to make a note of it somewhere on my behalf than all this hassle 🙄

In Settings > Accessibility > Interaction and dexterity, toggle on Assistant menu and in Assistant menu, toggle on Replace swipe with single tap.

This will allow you to press/tap instead of swipe on accept/decline call option.

Thankyou very much:) but it would be great if this could be done without the assistant menu ico hovering 24/7. Even 'small' & transparent as possible, its annoying

I agree, in fact it should just be an option in normal settings and not as part of Accessibility.

I totally agree with this sentiment. I recently bought my mum an S23 FE as her old iPhone 4s or something like that didn't have 4g capabilities and 3g was soon being dropped in the area. She only had the iPhone for less than a year and before that had never ever used a mobile phone or accessed the internet before in her life.

Things that are completely trivial to me are extremely complicated to her. When I watched her trying to use the touchscreen like she was pushing physical buttons, pushing with force and for too long I had to spend some time showing her that you only ever need to do light quick taps. Cue the next day where she says she can't answer phone calls so I phone her phone and she attempts to answer by lightly tapping the answer call button and I realised immediately that all that time I spent showing how to interact with the touchscreen was going to be undone by the answering of calls. As you have to hold down on the button on the screen and slide up it is still difficult for her to grasp after what I initially told her. Seems completely trivial to most people.

Also, as someone who is reasonably tech competent, you will never ever get as frustrated with anything else in life more than teaching an elderly technophobe parent how to use tech.

They need to add tap to answer as a setting option or add it to easy mode. I have put easy mode on and customized a lot of things to make it simpler for her, but more could be done. Her last problem was also a swipe problem, swiping to bypass the lock screen.

My other half is the same. Drives me up the wall. It's not complicated, it's just that you're inept lol. Joking aside, although i don't think tech should make concessions for anyone, there are some processes (such as the one raised here) that could be simplified. I for one would welcome this change, and I'm speaking as someone who doesn't have any problems with swiping. Hey ho.
