Do any apps require "appear on top" to be on?

I stumbled across the "appear on top" setting today on my Galaxy S21 Ultra & I was shocked to found almost every app had this permission on. This is also the case when I checked my Galaxy Tab A9+.

Do any apps require this to be on to function normally?

Can I turn them all off & still be able use my phone & tablet as usual without creating problems to any apps normal functionality?

Hey there

Yes you can turn them off. The setting simply means that the app can show in the screen above whatever else you are looking at.

For example you may be able to see a text message whilst streaming a programme. Nothing more sinister than that 👍
