I have a s10 phone. I have just started using message app from Samsung and I can't get a photo contact at the side of the text message I send to anyone. Does anyone know how I can change it

Hi @Kazza16

To add a photo to your contacts, go to Contacts > Select contact > Edit > Contact icon > Gallery/camera > Select photo > Save. Hope this helps!

Normally you should be able to edit picture as mentioned by @ChrisM. I do not have the option myself. And it could be possible that it has something to do with my storage location. I have most of my contacts stored on sim. Have you also got your contacts stored under location sim. If so try to change the storage location. Move the contacts from sim to Samsung account. See if you get the option to change the picture for you're contacts once storage location has been moved.

Edit: I just moved my contacts over to Samsung account from sim. Can confirm I now have the option to edit picture.

I can change the contact picture, the problem is that it's not showing at the side of text messages x

This isn't my phone in picture just an example of what I can't do and it's the contact picture side of text

Hi, @Kazza16. What you're seeing (e.g. the picture at the top, as opposed to alongside the contact's replies) is how it should appear if you're using standard SMS messages. If, however, you toggle on Chat features, I expect that the layout will show in a format that's similar to the screenshot you've uploaded.

To toggle on Chat features, please open the Messages app > Click the 3-dot menu on the top-right (this will open Messages settings) > Chat settings > Toggle Chat features ON.

I do not get pictures on the side, just a picture at the top of a thread. I think I could see pictures previously but not since a while. Perhaps this was removed?

You get delivered and read messages with chat features. These are messages sent through WiFi or data. If you turn chat features off you won't be able to send over WiFi and get delivered or read messages. Or it may be that you have show when delivered toggled on. Open messages app, tap the 3 dots. Settings > more settings > text messages. Toggle off show when delivered.
