I have an 11 your old with a Samsung phone. I can't set up a Samsung account for them. Are there any alternatives?

we do have a Samsung Kids Mode to protect your child from accessing potentially harmful content by setting up a PIN to prevent your child from exiting Kids Mode.

A parental control feature allows you to both set limits to your child’s usage and customize the content you make available. Find all about this HERE.

This doesn’t address the question. This is about how to set up a device that is assigned to the kid. Not to allow kids to use your device.

Same here. I don't understand is my child can use Galaxy Store or not. Also will be ask Galaxy Store permission before install new app using Family Link or via Samsung account...

Same problem here. I can't set him up a Samsung account without lying about his age. So i logged into mine. Now he has all my contacts on his phone, including work ones! And he changed my husbands name to Daddy on his phone and its changed it on mine too! SO annoying! Surely there's a way around this or do I have to lie about my childs age?! But surely, once he's an adult, this is going to cause problems?!

We did the same BUT made his own account with age year born 2003. Now I have NO control.

What kind of a ***** show is Samsung running. When I did a Nokia for my other kid, we set up a kids account controlled by Family link.

I hate Samsung. Stupid stupid

To clarify the situation, the terms and conditions for creating a Samsung account state that you must be at least 13 years old. This is also true of creating a Google account. For further information, please refer to the link below.

@Christable: You can set up a Family Link account on our devices by heading to Settings > Digital Wellbeing and parental controls > Parental controls.

I'm also having the same problem also Kids mode is not safe for kids to uses at all.

My autistic child has somehow worked out some apps can be useds to undo/get out of the kids mode and get's into my phone all the time He also he keeps calling the cops while in kids mode as the have a button for it ... Is there a way to remove the emergency call button from the kids mode?

Cos the cops are mad at me about the fact my child keeps calling them and he dose not understand to not to push the emergency call button that's built into the kids mode as he has ASD.

So what Samsung account do we use to set up our kids tablets/phones. We don't want them to have access to our things, equally they are not yet old enough for their own Samsung account.

I appreciate that you would be keen to set up your kids' device(s) in such a way that it also protects your data, @Members_R3sblh2. You could certainly set up the device using your account and then configure it in such a way that your child/children only have access to the apps, games, and services of your choosing.

Kids Mode is certainly one way to accomplish this:

I'm actually disgusted and disturbed at your response to this as I already have it set up and have been using it for years now.

As I said there's 2 problems with kids mode as it let's them get into trouble and help them get out of kids mode.

They need to remove the emergency call feature or have it set up so they parents can block it so kids don't accidentally keep calling the emergency lines as it can lead to them getting into trouble in real life and the parents can get fines aka need to pay money for the kids bad behaviour.

And they need to fix the keyboard settings loop that let's kids get out of kids mode and into the real phone.

I would not set up kids mode has a bunch of bugs loop holes that kids can uses to get out of it and into the real device I would not let a kid uses it into its been fixed.

Make a new Samsung account for an adult using a brand new email that you made just for the kids to uses and you have controll of that Email and that samsung account.

Only you know the password for both the Email and samsung account.

Uses that Email on a new device that is set up only for the kids to uses.

Don't add your information on the device or samsung account.

Don't add your bank accounts or any payment methods. If the kids want to buy stuff in the app store buy them a gift card for it online or from a shop that sell gift cards and add it to the account you set up for the kids.

Add kids mode and kids olny app that are free and have no in app store on them so they can't buy stuff in the apps.

Oh heads up kids can still call the cops on kids mode even if the calls are blocked on it... it dumb and it needs to be removed. So talk to your kids about no using it to call the cops because they will get into trouble with the cops.

I'm struggling with this right now too. I've been using Galaxy phones since the original Galaxy S & converted my wife to Samsung from Apple & we both have Samsung tablets & just got a tablet for the kids. Now this is making me think I need to ditch Samsung & go with a Google phone for stock Android to have simpler controls & none of this run-around. I have no problems out of my Gmail addresses for either of my kids & the parental controls work fine. Just Samsung being difficult.

If you google this you would know this.

13 is the minimum age to manage your own Google Account. Note: These requirements may not be applicable to Google Workspace, including accounts in Google Workspace for Education domains.

Struggling with this right now also. I just bought her a Watch FE for my 8 yo and am pairing it with an extra phone I had (phone will stay in a drawer and watch will act as a standalone phone). However in trying to set it up, it says too young when at the stage of logging into samsung account. I agree that she is too young to manage it herself, and that is why I set her up on a Child account which requires my permission. However it is blocking setup, even though it could simply ask for my permission. Hours wasted so far trying to figure the best way to make this watch work for her.

I can't create a child account as my child is already 13 years old, and yet on the phone it says I can't create a Samsung account for them because they are under 14.

How do I get round that? Like other parents I'm having to use my Samsung account so they can access their phone.
