@Promisefrancis: If you head to Settings > Apps > Select an app > Notifications > Sound, then you may find that it is has 'App approved sound' as it's default. If you see this, please refrain from changing it as, as far as I'm aware, it can't be changed back via the list of options. You may wish to try heading to Settings > Apps > Tap the 3 dots in the top right > Reset app preferences to see if you can restore them in this manner, however please be advised that this will remove any personal settings you have applied to all your apps, including any sign in details.

I changed most of mine so I knew what notification it was from. You have to go into the notication settings for each app you want to change the sound for, it takes a while depending on how many apps you have on your device.

Thanks keith30, but I miss those sounds provided by these socials. Trying to change them through settings leaves me with a whole new sound by Samsung

If you used Smart Switch to transfer the data from the old phone this is the main reason. Try re-installing the apps in order to get the default Notification sounds

On my 20note ultra some of my apps do not have a category or an option to choose a sound.. no mater where that sound file might be. How are you addressing those?

I called Samsung tech support multiple times and they said Samsung does not have access to change or restore the 3rd party app notification sounds... (-___-) if that was true how did they change all of them to the same sound? I just want each app to have their own sounds back and I'd like to avoid a factory reset and a fresh samsung smart switch session... AGAIN.. Any and all (most) advice is helpful.

It's not a Samsung issue, it's an Android issue. But if you try to report it on the Google Android forums and say your device is Samsung, they will pass the buck, refer you back here, and lock your thread. 💩

Also, it's been going on for at least 5 years per a search of "App provided sound" on the Google forums.

Some people have also successfully restored the "App provided sound" entry to the Notification sounds list by clearing the app's Data storage.
