windows 10 samsung smart switch new install crashes

like the subject says.
see the picture
smart switch crashes as soon as its opened
riunning windows 10 v21h2
so I uninstalled it with revo uninstaller, restarted my machine and tried again - same result.
any ideas?

there is defintiely a problem with the latest version of smart switch, I've tried it on two different windows 10 machines and both are crashing like in the picture in my OP

for goodness sake don't any samsung support staff read these forums? is there no help at all on this problem?

I've tried samsung smart switch on two different windows 10 pc's and on both the software crashes. they are both new install and the latest version all of you at samsung should be ashamed of yourselves for releasing such junk!

Hi, @neuronetv1. I am sorry we missed this. I am at a loss as to what is causing Smart Switch to crash on both of your PCs. That is not what we would expect, however, and we have not been able to replicate this.

Have you checked to ensure that your PCs meet the minimum specifications to run the program?

It is worth noting that you would also require the Microsoft Media Feature Pack. You can see the required specifications under "Technical Requirements" on the page below:

my pc's said the Microsoft Media Feature Pack was not applicable to my computers so I'm back where I started with this crashing software and no solution. the fact that I've tried smart switch on two seperate windows 10 pc's would indicate the fault is with the software. I don't get this crash with other programs on my pc's.

ok so no help and I've now given up on this, allbeit disappointed.

I've managed to do a backup of my phone using adb on a raspberry pi 3.

it didn't crash

This is a complain from china SM-G9910 (S21) user , i bakup data with Smart switch , then reset my phone. very suck that i can not revocery data frome Smart switch ，as the same crashes as this topic . i contact with deskhelp from samsung china, they can not give a solution to fix issue too. really shamed with samsung.

simon086 I have come across solution that is working:

this was done on an older version of vindows 10 - ver 1903. I don't know if it will work on v 21h2. I switched off windows update before connecting the internet so it stayed at v1903

it's best if you do this on a clean windows install if you have a spare computer.

download and install this earlier version of samsung smart switch:
https://samsung-smart-switch.en.uptodown.com/windows/versions
I used v 4.2 - Jan 2021

then download an older usb driver, I used v 1.5.33.0 from here:
https://www.mediafire.com/download/yn6x5n5x556nesa/Samsung-Usb-Driver-v1.5.33.0.exe

install the usb driver first, then install samsung smart switch. you will see the older (blue) UI and it should work. mine did. best of luck.

I think I've found a solution:

I did this on a previous windows 10 version - v1903. I don't know if it works on 21h2.
best to do a clean install of windows if you have a spare computer.
1) download an earlier version of samsung smart switch from here:
https://samsung-smart-switch.en.uptodown.com/windows/versions
I used v4.2 (jan 2021)
2) download and install an earlier usb driver version from here:
https://androidfit.com/download-samsung-usb-drivers
I used USB Driver v1.5.33.0

install the smart switch earlier download. you'll see its the earlier (blue)UI
this worked for me, I was able to do a backup with no crash.
