Better note taking apps

Does anyone know of any better note taking apps than Samsung Notes? Preferably free ones :).

I'm looking for features exactly like Samsung Notes, not too different in design/layout. Also, would love for the notes to have a black background, similar to Samsung Notes.

In addition, I would like to have the option of syncing my notes/saving them to a cloud storage automatically for each note I type. Samsung Notes has this feature with Microsoft OneNote, but when I access OneNote app on phone or laptop, NOTHING is synced! If this can be fixed, I would greatly appreciate it, as I want to continue using Samsung Notes, but the biggest let down is the sync feature not working for me.

hello

Samsung Notes has it's own sync via app itself

on the app → tap gear icon → settings → Sync

you may check Google Keep or Evernote apps as well
