New Samsung A36 - No Gmail notification or sound played when new emails arrive!

Hello all and Happy New Year

I was lucky enough to get a Samsung A36 phone for Christmas to replace my A32.

However, as much as I like the new phone I cannot get a Gmail notification or sound to play when a new email arrives. Everything else such as text/Facebook messages, banking/shopping apps etc is fine. This only happens with Gmail. I have tried absolutely everything Google and YouTube has to offer but sadly nothing is curing the problem. With my A32 it was fine! I have the Gmail icon on my Home screen. Nothing appears in that to show an email has arrived. If I open the Gmail app emails are downloaded but no sound plays.

Phone has been reset to factory settings and everything reinstalled.

Notifications have been set to allowed and do not disturb turned off.

Volume settings checked.

Show notifications checked.

Lock screen setting checked

Settings/Battery Background Usage Limits checked

Gmail cache cleared

And more!!!

Perhaps it is an issue with the current Android version? I cannot imagine that phone has an actual fault.

If anyone could offer any advice or help it would be very much appreciated. It is an irritating problem more than anything.

Gmail is Absolutely Rubbish. Was sick of it getting full. I no longer use Gmail I created a Yahoo account.

If everything is ringing correctly, the issue should be in Gmail's app.

Did you check the Settings in Gmail? In General Settings, go to "Manage Notifications" and check that "Sound and vibration" is on. Additionally, go to "Notification categories" and check if your account is allowing notifications.

Then go back to the settings and click on your account address. Click on "Notification sound" and check if it is not set to "Silent". You can even select the volume for the notification - if you move the slider around, it should make the selected sound. Still in your account settings, click on "Notification categories" and check if the "Alert" option is on (instead of "Silent" (this should already be on, as per the global notifications set in the paragraph above, but better safe than sorry).

Since android update December 25 phone rings are gone

Cannot find any help for A14 4g phone on u1.7
