Help please. I have a Galaxy a05 & it keeps restarting it self! At first I thought it was at every update, but in settings, (unless Im looking in the wrong place) it hasn't updated since mid August!

It literally turns itself off & immediate restarts! This morning was half way through sending birthday greetings! Most inopportune!

Ideas anyone?

Have you checked device care - auto optimisation settings ?

It is possible to add in a restart schedule to keep the phone optimised. Worth checking for this setting first.

Yes, tried that. All seems good. 🤷‍♂️ it just randomly switches off & restarts! 🤦🏻

Think I may SET for a timed restarts...it might stop the random 🤔 🤞🏼

No problem. I did wonder if this was set to trigger that you were unaware, but correct that if you schedule a restart at a convenient time then it might mean it doesn't inconvenience you.

I set a once weekly as you can see. It helps to clear the phone memory and refresh the phone sometimes.

Of course if the RAM is congested with open apps and Internet browser keeping lots of pages in memory then strange things can happen.

For your A05 (my father has one also), then the RAM plus setting can help add some extra virtual memory space. This should be enabled by default anyway, but also worth checking this setting.

Device care. Memory. At the bottom of this screen there is this setting.

The idea of RAM plus is that for devices with a lower amount of random access memory, then it is possible the phone can use some storage area as an active memory area.

For the top end devices that have more RAM in the hardware then this setting is less important, but for the mid range phones with less hardware RAM then this can give more memory size for the phone to use by adding a 'virtual memory space'.

If this is set ON with a value of say 4GB, then your phone RAM (perhaps 3GB hardware) will be increased to allow up to 7GB of instant access memory.

At least that is a basic explanation... there is a bit more than this.

However it is good to have this on for lower phones. But it will use a bit of your storage, which is the compromise.

Bear in mind when you change this setting the phone will need to restart when the option is changed.

Hope this helps with understanding.

I think it's stopped working on my a55 I have the restart set at 3am Saturday morning but when checking my phone hasn't restarted i don't have to put pin in

You could test this easily. Add a restart for 30 minutes time from now and see if it does start the phone again.

I think you may be onto something. I just tried an auto restart and set the time for 11am today... nothing.

I also looked at the most recent auto optimisation and it reports 11 days ago. This is set to a weekly schedule and should say 4 days ago if it was working correctly.

I guess something may be broken with recent release. I am using a fold 7 for info...

Mine says 8 days ago but it didn't work over weekend
I noticed well over a month ago now it not been working but didn't think much about it
I use the optimise widget on a nite

Just read feed back my phone is always charged to around 80 percent be i go to bed so I know this isn't not the case
