@deve52: While you won't receive OS updates at the same time as our flagship S Series and Z Series devices, your device will still receive them well before the next update is set to be released (which is typically on an annual basis). Add to this the 6 years of security updates (up to 31st October 2030) which are released every 3 months, and your device will be kept up to date long after many other rival brands/devices have become obsolete. For the price point, I personally think that this policy offers excellent value for money.

Samsung Galaxy A16 5G OS Upgrades?

When I purchased the Samsung Galaxy A16 5G, a promise from Samsung was that it would be guaranteed 6 X Major OS upgrades to 2030. I have recently found out that the updates and upgrades will be rolled out so slowly, that by the time they are implemented on the A16 5G, the Android OS system will have already moved on. Therefore it will always be out of date. The OS upgrades claim by Samsung is defunct.

I'd love to hear some thoughts and replies on this matter.

Ta.

I wouldn't say that's true. A series phones get updates every 3 months. S series phones get them each month. So you'll be a little behind for 2 months then on the third month, you'll be equal to the S series phones. Os upgrades might take an extra month to prepare as the effort is mostly focused on their higher end devices but you'll get them shortly after all the others do

A series phones get security updates more often than every 3 months. I have the A25 5G and the longest time between updates has been 2 months.

Hi, you say security updates until 2030, but the phone was advertised for 6 full Android OS Upgrades. Will I be getting Android OS 20 in 2030? My phone was manufactured in 2024 with Android OS 14. 6 full Android OS Upgrades would mean that by the year 2030, I should be on my final full Android OS Upgrade - Android OS 20. Is this the case?
