Many thanks for the advice. I have installed Good Guardians and the Memory Guardian module. After a couple of days without problems the battery drain returned this morning. Dropped 4% in an hour whilst at home, not using 'phone at all and with an excellent WiFi signal. I rebooted 'phone and it returned to normal battery usage dropping only 1% over 2 hours when not in use. Memory Guardian did not reveal anything untoward. I am wondering how accurate the battery remaining percentage figure show on the 'phone is. I use Protect Battery and only charge to 85%. It always drops to 82% quickly but then stays on 82% for quite some time before starting to drop again. I will continue to monitor it with Memory Guardian and see if, over time, something is revealed. Thanks again for your advice. Much appreciated.

Samsung A25 5G Battery Drain

I purchased a new A25 5G around three months ago. I set it up using Smart Switch and all went fine. I am a very light user and have very few apps installed. I turn my 'phone off each night and on again the next morning. A couple of weeks ago after I switched it on one morning I noticed how quickly the battery was draining. Dropping 3/4% an hour even when I wasn't using the 'phone. Looking at the amount of battery used by each app did not help. The total amount shown as used by all apps is far less than the actual battery drainage. I found that rebooting the 'phone stopped the problem for a couple of days but it keeps returning. I have stopped all background scans on apps, stopped all but a few notifications and have also deleted the cache partition but the problem keeps returning. The phone is fine for a few days but then when switched on in the morning drains heavily until rebooted. I want to avoid a master reset if possible but am getting fed up with having to keep checking battery drain each morning to see if I need to reboot. All software and apps are up to date and I have followed all the Samsung tips to prevent battery drain. Any ideas/help will be very welcome!

It sounds like you've excluded most of the likely culprits, and if there was a hardware issue I'd expect it to be persistent rather than intermittent. If it's not an app, then it may be a process causing havoc. If you put screenshots up of your battery usage it might help diagnose it, but if you could also download an app that details memory usage (an example would be the Good Guardians app on the Samsung Store and then the module Memory Guardian ) This highlights in more detail which processes are running which may identify anything rogue.

Having said that, 3/4% per hour wouldn't be a huge drop if your mobile network or WiFi was struggling for a signal.

No problem. You might be right that the battery percentage being shown isn't entirely accurate, and if the overall battery life is good then there may be no issue to worry about.

By the sounds of things, if a reboot is solving the problem temporarily, there may well be a process restarting that you have little control over. Google Play Services, with all of its location polling, and also Samsung apps doing the same, may be the culprit if you wanted to continue to delve. I try to restrict location permissions and scans to a minimum as they can eat battery very quietly in the background

Hello Members_6M9F2Bx,

i have a Problem with my Galaxy A14, that after 9-10 days of system runtime the battery consumption massively increases. The problem can only be "solved" by reboot. The Problem is 100% predictable and reproducible.

See my thread, i observed and reported the problem since one year.

Search for Title "Galaxy A14 - Increased battery drain after 10 Days for no reason (regular updates since 2023)" in Samsung Community, i have a own thread.

I have observed this problem on THREE of THREE Samsung Galaxy A14s. I have not tested other models yet

Your problem seems to be similar, although the battery is draining much faster. It would be interesting if you could document the battery consumption and see if you can find any pattern that might have something to do with the runtime.

Greetings

I also have to complain about AWFUL Samsung A25 battery life is very bad. I can literally be watching at my screen how % are dropping, even when in pocket doing nothing, battery drain is horrendous from day 1, and i dont have any weird app issues, i use basic stuff like everyone else, youtube, facebook, messenger, whatsap, revolut, aircash, and THATS IT. I dont even have instagram or tiktok (ewww). Also i use it as hotspot device, but even then, battery life is just awful awful, with or without hotspot. Before this phone i used oneplusN10 nord, and also used it as hotspot device, and its battery life was easily 2-3x better / longer lasting compared to samsung. I never, not even once said ''huh, that drained fast'' while owning oneplus. While with samsung, from first day of using it, i was like ''wtf is wrong with this phone and its battery %'' ?

This is my first samsung device, and probably the last. I bought A25 specifically because it has aux and microSD slot, and it has battery protection mode that limits charging to 80%, which i liked, because i wanted to use this phone for long time and make it last because i do use hotspot a lot... but what do i even have to save if battery itself was always BAD from day1? Battery life is HORRENDOUS, when i leave the house, if i'm not in a car able to charge, i wouldnt last 8 hours outside with my phone just sitting in my pocket without worrying it will drain. It can easily loose 10% of its charge in 20 minutes when i just use it for googlemaps. And 10% in an hour while doing nothing in my pocket, without hotspot. With hotspot ON, its is bye bye battery, i can look at the % dropping every minute. And the heat? I dont even need to mention how hot it is, i bought a special fan for cooling it down while its charging... but im asking myself why again, what is there to protect, if the basis is so bad, that it is unpractical. I should just throw it away and buy another brand. Can someone recommend brand that has good UI and battery charging limit to 80% option? Ofc it ust have AUX and microSD. And also i liked modes and routines in samsung oneui, i will miss that one.

I wish i could just return the phone, but i know full well retailer nor samsung will acknowledge my complaint, they will say phone is operating normally and there is nothing wrong with it.

@sacekusha

As I said, write down the battery level regularly with the exact time. If you use your phone during the day, it's best to do it between sleeping and getting up. Then you can quickly calculate how many percent the smartphone loses in an hour, at least the basic consumption. Although I'm also concerned that the smartphone even shows the correct consumption

Then you might have a comparison value that you and others can do something with. You need as uniform a basis for comparison as possible. People often complain about battery consumption here, but I don't know what they're talking about specifically. In theory, an app that drains the battery is enough, or you've turned the brightness up to 100%. One person is constantly watching videos, so it's no wonder.

In flight mode, with all settings set to maximum energy avoidance, my Samsung Galaxy A14 has a battery consumption of 2% per day. I assume that the devices should have comparable battery consumption in identical situations. This was also the case with two other devices. As I said, without the problem!! Then it's suddenly 8 to 10% a day after 10 days of system operation. 😕 I would be surprised if the A25 doesn't always reach values like that.
